Trichocereus terscheckii, also called the Argentine Saguaro, is a towering species native to Argentina and Bolivia, admired for its massive size, strong ribs, and heavy spination. It is one of the largest and most impressive members of the Trichocereus group.
- Origin: Native to the dry valleys and foothills of Argentina & Bolivia.
- Growth Habit: A giant columnar cactus that can reach 8–10 meters tall in nature, resembling the North American saguaro but with heavier ribs and spines.
- Stems: Thick, blue-green to gray-green, with 8–14 ribs. Mature stems can exceed 25–30 cm in diameter.
- Spines: Golden to brown, very robust, often 5–10 cm long, giving it a fierce appearance.
- Flowers: Large, white, nocturnal blooms up to 20 cm across, highly fragrant and bat-pollinated.
